Reviews

We visited many beautiful local restaurants, tried Egyptian food, and also explored many nice shops. We wanted to buy oil, tea, and other little things, and GelGel always took us wherever we wanted to go. We enjoyed our trips very much and are looking forward to the next time!

We also did a balloon ride above Luxor, and once again GelGel and our driver Mohamed could not have done better. They were always there, always on time, and always chilled out and funny. They make a great team together!

GelGel organized a very, very nice camel ride through a nice little village next to Luxor. One father and his two children were our camel guides. We liked seeing that the children were learning from their father how to treat the camels right.

ELPHINSTONE REEF

A close-up underwater image of a diver near a large shark, with the shark's mouth open and small striped fish nearby.
Underwater view of a large, dense school of silver fish forming a bait ball in clear blue water.
Underwater shot of a shark from the side, accompanied by striped fish, against the backdrop of clear blue ocean water.
An underwater view of a vibrant red-orange school of fish near coral with a diver in the background.
It is one of the most amazing diving spots in the world. Just below the sea surface is the top of a submerged mountain, decorated with vibrant corals teeming with a variety of fish species. Here you can encounter hungry barracuda, dolphins and sharks.

Two species of shark in particular are of particular note: the inquisitive lagoon shark and the unmissable hammerhead shark. For divers, this is a truly extraordinary opportunity to come face to face with these fascinating, if fearsome, creatures. Sadly, both species face the threat of extinction, with the former classified as vulnerable and the latter as endangered by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

However, these encounters are reserved for highly experienced divers only. Not perhaps because of the sharks, which don't usually consider humans as prey, but because of the reef's location in the open sea, its tempting but dangerously deep coral platforms and caves, and its legendary and ever-changing currents.
These are wild creatures, which means we can't guarantee sightings, but there is still a chance you will encounter them, especially on repeated dives.
